Data description
The main task of reforestation is productive and high-quality forest production in accordance with forestry requirements, implementing reforestation by sowing or planting, or by promoting natural regeneration, if it takes place with tree species corresponding to the given growing conditions.
Data provide information on reforested areas (ha) in all forests, state forests and other forests by regions, type of reforestation and by reforested (dominant) tree species.

Length of comparable time series
Due to the implementation of the administrative-territorial reform in 2020, data from 2021 onwards are not comparable with previous periods. Therefore, the data where a break in the time series occurred are stored in two tables - pre-reform and post-reform.
- Statistics on forest regeneration is available since 1991;
- Forest regeneration and cultivation expenses - since 2007.

Data collection
Section 29, Paragraph two of the Law on Forests provides that, a forest owner or lawful possessor have an obligation to, by 1 February each year, inform the State Forest Service of the forestry activity, including reforestation, implemented in the previous calendar year.
Reports on reforestation are submitted by forest owners and lawful possessors. Data are registered in the state information system - the State Forest Register.
The State Forest Service within one month after receipt of the report on reforestation or maintenance of the reforested stand in accordance with the Cabinet Regulation No. 384 "Regulations Regarding Forest Inventory and Circulation of Information of the State Forest Register" of 21 June 2016 shall verify the compliance of the information specified in the report with the criteria and requirements referred to in these regulations and shall take a decision by which the forest stand is recognized as reforested or maintained.
Data compilation
The collected data on reforested areas are compiled and selected in the state information system - the State Forest Register.
