The data of the National Health Service on persons who have completed vaccination, analysed by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that on September 1, 698 thousand or 37 % of the usually resident population of Latvia were vaccinated against Covid- 19. Data have been published on the Official Statistics Portal in the form of tables and interactive maps on the situation since March this year in breakdown by counties and parishes, and densely populated areas, as well as in the neighbourhoods of Riga and Valmiera. The data is updated at the beginning of each month. The data received by the CSB on vaccinated persons are analysed in accordance with the population of Latvia estimated by CSB.

The CSB indicates that the number of persons who received the vaccine is higher, but only those who have passed 14 days after the completion of the full vaccination course or one dose of the vaccine within 180 days after a laboratory-confirmed positive Covid- 19 test are considered fully vaccinated. These conditions are identical for a person to be considered vaccinated against Covid- 19 and to be able to travel. The calculations of the number and share of vaccinated persons do not include those persons who, according to the CSB data, were not among the usually resident population of Latvia at the beginning of 2021, as well as the deceased persons who died from the beginning of 2021.

In the regions, the most vaccinated persons are in Pierīga (40.7 %), the least - in Latgale (25.0 %). 40.6 % were vaccinated in Vidzeme, 36.1 % in Kurzeme and 35.1 % in Zemgale.

In Riga, 39.2 % of persons have been vaccinated; in three neighbourhoods - more than half of the neighbourhood population: in Berģi (52.4 %), Bieriņi (50.6 %) and Beberbeķi (50.1 %). Less than 30 % of vaccinated persons are living in four neighbourhoods of Riga: in Spilve (16,2 %), Voleri (26,4 %), Bolderāja (28,1 %) and Daugavgrīva (29,2 %).

At least 50 % of the population has been vaccinated in eight parishes and in one city. Among parishes, the largest share of vaccinated persons is in Gārsene (59,2 %), Jūrkalne (57,9 %), Pampāļi (57,0 %), Jaunauce (56,9 %) and Jeri (55,9 %). There are social care centres in Gārsene, Jūrkalne and Jeri parishes, which affects the relatively high share of vaccinated persons. Among cities, the most vaccinated persons are in Mazsalaca - 50.1 %.

A relatively high share of vaccinated persons - from 40 % to 57 % - is in parishes on the Lithuanian border near Mažeikiai and Palanga; this is probably due to the possibility to move freely without the need for self-isolation and the desire to shop in the supermarkets of the neighbouring country, where from September 13 non-vaccinated people will be denied entry.

In 20 parishes only 10 % –15 % of the population have been vaccinated. The lowest share of vaccinated persons is in several Latgale parishes - Kantinieki (10.1 %), Piedruja (10.4 %), Sokolki (10.5 %), Mākoņkalns (11.6 %), Čornaja (11.7 %) and Silajāņi (11.7 %), which is six times less than in the parishes with the highest share of vaccinated population.

In co-operation with the Ministry of Economics, the CSB will soon provide a detailed analysis of vaccinated persons in breakdown by sectors and professions.
