Data description
Data on students in vocational education (lower secondary and upper secondary vocational education) provide an opportunity to evaluate the acquisition of vocational education both at the national and international level. Data are collected and published by the country as a whole, by educational programmes, by age and sex, by thematic groups of education.
Statistical concepts and definitions
Statistical unit
Vocational education institutions and higher education institutions that implement vocational secondary education programmes.
Statistical population
All economically active vocational education institutions and higher education institutions established by the state, local governments and legal entities, registered in the State Education Information System of the Ministry of Education and Science, which implement vocational secondary education programmes.

Data collection
Data on foreign language learning and funding of vocational education institutions are obtained from the CSB survey Vocational Education Institutions.
Data on the number of students by educational programme, new entrants and graduates, age and sex, and the number of teachers are obtained from the State Education Information System (VIIS).
Information on new entrants to and graduates from vocational education institutions is collected for the period from 1 October 199X to 30 September 199Y, or from 1 October 20XX to 30 September 20XY, respectively.
Data compilation
Data are acquired with the help of full-scope survey.
