Data at the beginning 2012–2026

The population size at the beginning of 2023 has been recalculated using a new estimation method and therefore differs from previously published data.

In cases where a person has two names in the Register of Natural Persons only the first name is used in the statistics for the most popular names.

The statistics only covers the names the total number whereof exceeds three. 

Reference metadata

Fields:

Year – a year when the respective number of names was recorded (2012–2026); 
Sex – gender (F – female, M – male);
Code – code of the historical region (LV, LV006, LVV_x_LV006, LVK, LVZ, LVL, LVS);
Hist_region_LV – Latvian name of the historical region (Latvija, Rīga, Vidzeme bez Rīgas, Kurzeme, Zemgale, Latgale, Sēlija);
Hist_region_EN – English name of the historical region (Latvia, Riga, Vidzeme excluding Riga, Kurzeme, Zemgale, Latgale, Sēlija);
Name – a name of the person;
Numb – count of the respective name.
