The Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs maintains the Forenames Database, where by entering a name you can find out how many persons with that name are registered in the Register of Natural Persons of Latvia. Unlike the CSB name statistics, the Forenames Database includes the name or names of each person, so Sofia, Sofia Amelia and Sofia Anna will be three unique names. The Forenames Database of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs is updated periodically and reflects the situation at the time of the update throughout Latvia. Unique names are also published in the Forenames Database.
7. Statistical processing (data source etc.)
Source data
- Register of Natural Persons (FPR, until June 28, 2021 - Population Register (IR)) maintained by the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs.
Data collection
The information is received from the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, which is the data holder.
Data compilation
If a person has two names in the Register of Natural Persons, only the first name is taken into account in the name statistics. For example, Luīze Lote will be counted as Luīze in these statistics.
Forenames with at least one different letter are counted as two different names, so both Artūrs and Arturs are counted in the name statistics.
The spelling of the names has been kept in accordance with the Register of Natural Persons of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs.
The published statistics do not include names with a total number of less than three in the respective territory.
