Industrial production output increased by 1.9 % in April

Central Statistical Bureau calendar adjusted data at constant prices show that, compared to April 2024, in April 2025 industrial production output1 increased by 1.9 %. Output in manufacturing rose by 5.0 %, while in electricity and gas supply as well as mining and quarrying reduced by 12.2 % and 11.7 % respectively.

The largest increase was recorded in manufacture of textiles (16.4 %), followed by manufacture of non-metallic mineral products (15.8 %), repair and installation of machinery and equipment (15.7 %), and manufacture of rubber and plastic products (15.2 %). Increased industrial output was also observed in two out of three sectors having the largest share in manufacturing – manufacture of food products (13.8 %) and manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture (8.3 %). The most notable reduction was recorded in manufacture of machinery and equipment (11.8 %) and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (9.0 %). Reduced output was also registered in the third sector having the largest share in manufacturing – manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (0.7 %).

Compared to March 2025, in April 2025 industrial production output increased by 0.8 % (seasonally adjusted data at constant prices). Output in manufacturing increased by 1.8 %, while in electricity and gas supply as well as mining and quarrying reduced by 10.2 % and 3.4 % respectively.

Manufacturing turnover2

Compared to April 2024, in April 2025 manufacturing turnover increased by 7.0 % (calendar adjusted data at current prices). Turnover on domestic market went up by 6.2 % and on non-domestic market by 7.4 % (of which rise of 20.7 % in euro area and drop of 3.1 % in non-euro area).

Compared to March 2025, in April 2025 manufacturing turnover reduced by 1.1 % (seasonally adjusted data). Turnover on domestic market went down by 1.0 % and on non-domestic market by 1.1 % (of which rise of 3.2 % in euro area and drop of 5.1 % in non-euro area).

Methodological information

 

1 Industrial production output is calculated by summing the self-produced products sold and industrial services provided during the respective month with the change in stocks of finished products and work in progress. The volume index of industrial production describes changes in the volume of industrial production during the reference period in comparison to the base period. The index is estimated by recalculating the production output indicator at constant prices with the help of producer price indices.

 

2 Industrial turnover covers the self-produced products sold and industrial services provided during the respective month. Industrial turnover index characterises monthly changes in demand for industrial goods and services on the market. It is calculated at current prices without excluding price influence. Unlike the industrial output that also includes unfinished goods and goods in stock, turnover only includes the goods sold and industrial services provided.
