In March, industrial production output increased in the three main manufacturing sectors
Central Statistical Bureau calendar adjusted data at constant prices show that, compared to March 2024, in March 2025 industrial production output1 reduced by 2.5 %. While the three largest manufacturing sectors had an increased output, the overall production output in manufacturing declined by 1.7 %. Output in electricity and gas supply reduced by 6.9 %, and in mining and quarrying by 8.7 %.
The highest industrial production output rise was recorded in manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (19.5 %) as well as printing and reproduction of recorded media (8.8 %). Increased output was also observed in the three sectors having the largest share in manufacturing – manufacture of food products (7.3 %), manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture (6.3 %), and manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (0.8 %). However, manufacture of chemicals and chemical products witnessed the most significant decline (11.3 %), followed by manufacture of machinery and equipment (10.1 %), and manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (10.0 %).
Compared to February 2025, in March 2025 industrial production output reduced by 1.9 % (seasonally adjusted data at constant prices). Output in manufacturing went down by 1.2 %, in electricity and gas supply by 7.9 %, and in mining and quarrying by 8.7 %.

Methodological information
1 Industrial production output is calculated by summing the self-produced products sold and industrial services provided during the respective month with the change in stocks of finished products and work in progress. The volume index of industrial production describes changes in the volume of industrial production during the reference period in comparison to the base period. The index is estimated by recalculating the production output indicator at constant prices with the help of producer price indices.
2 Industrial turnover covers the self-produced products sold and industrial services provided during the respective month. Industrial turnover index characterises monthly changes in demand for industrial goods and services on the market. It is calculated at current prices without excluding price influence. Unlike the industrial output that also includes unfinished goods and goods in stock, turnover only includes the goods sold and industrial services provided.
