Data description
Economic Sentiment, Employment Expectations and Economic Uncertainty and Labour Hoarding Composite Indicators are calculated by the General Directorate of Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission (ECFIN) using the results of business tendency surveys conducted by the Member States, according to a common methodology.

Regular harmonised surveys are coordinated by the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) for different sectors of the economies in all EU countries.
Length of comparable time series
Economic sentiment indicator data are available since April, 1993.
Employment expectations indicators are available since January, 2002.
Uncertainty indicators are available since January, 2021.

Data are collected from the Business Tendency Surveys carried out by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia (see more detailed description of methodology) and Consumer Surveys conducted by the market and public opinion research centre "Latvijas Fakti".

Data collection
These surveys are conducted by the CSB in accordance with the European Union's Joint Harmonized EU Programme of Business and Consumer Surveys, using funding from the European Commission.
Data compilation
For all Member States of the European Union Economic Sentiment Indicator is calculated according to a uniform methodology, by the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, taking as a basis 15 different seasonally adjusted components included in industry, construction, retail trade and services sectors, as well as in consumer confidence indicator.
