In November Latvia exported goods in the amount of EUR 1.55 billion
Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) provisional data show that in November 2025 Latvia had foreign trade turnover of EUR 3.43 billion, and at current prices it was 1.1 % higher than a year ago. Value of exported goods decreased by 5.6 % and of imported goods increased by 7.4 %. In November Latvia exported goods in the amount of EUR 1.55 billion, but imported – in the amount of EUR 1.88 billion.
As exports in the total foreign trade decreased from 48.5 % in November 2024 to 45.2 % in November 2025, foreign trade balance worsened. Please note that the statistics for foreign trade in goods is presented at actual prices and calculated based on the goods value in euro, not the physical amount or quantity.
During the eleven months of 2025, Latvian foreign trade turnover at current prices reached EUR 39.31 billion – EUR 2 101.7 billion or 5.6 % more than in the corresponding period of 2024. The exported goods were valued at EUR 18 billion (up by EUR 636.4 million or 3.7 %) and imported goods at EUR 21.31 billion (up by EUR 1 465.3 million or 7.4 %).
Data on August 2025 have been revised.
Calendar and seasonally adjusted year-on-year data show that the value of exported goods at current prices fell by 1.1 %, and that of imported goods rose by 9.3 %. Month-on-month data indicate a decrease of 5.4 % in the value of exports and increase of 2.1 % in the value of imports.
Main changes in exports in November 2025, compared to November 2024:
- exports of mineral products up by EUR 30.5 million or 25.7 %;
- exports of machinery and mechanical appliances; electrical equipment up by EUR 16 million or 6.6 %;
- exports of wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal down by EUR 32 million or 12 %;
- exports of vegetable products down by EUR 26.8 million or 19.9 %;
- export of prepared foodstuffs down by EUR 15.3 million or 8.8 %.
In November 2025, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, imports rise was observed in all main commodity groups:
- imports of machinery and mechanical appliances; electrical equipment up by EUR 52.1 million or 14.9 %;
- imports of mineral products up by EUR 17.7 million or 9.7 %;
- imports of vehicles and associated transport equipment up by EUR 17 million or 9.3 %;
- imports of prepared foodstuffs up by EUR 13.8 million or 8.1 %;
- imports of vegetable products up by EUR 10.9 million or 14.4 %.
Lithuania remained the largest destination for goods exported from Latvia in November – with a share of 20.6 % – and Estonia came second with 11.9 %. Germany followed at some distance with 7.9 %, and Sweden with 5.7 %. Lithuania was also the leading trading partner for imports – with a share of 20 %. Germany followed with 12.9 %, Poland with 11 %, and Estonia with 10.6 %.
Year-on-year exports to the United States reduced by 30.7 %, and was valued at EUR 27.2 million. The drop was mainly affected by the decrease in exports of optical instruments and apparatus (inc. medical), clocks and watches, musical instruments by EUR 3.6 million or 53.5 %. Imports from the United States increased 2.1 times and was valued at EUR 25.8 million. Rise in imports was mostly affected by the increase of EUR 12.5 million in imports of mineral products.
Year-on-year data show that the rise in the exports of mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation was boosted by growing export of electricity and natural gas, which went up by EUR 13.3 million and EUR 10.4 million respectively. In turn, fall in exports of cereals was mostly affected by drop in export of wheat and meslin by EUR 34.6 million or 52.9 %.

The rise in imports of electrical machinery and equipment in November 2025, as compared to November 2024, was mostly affected by an increase in import of smartphones by EUR 8.9 million or 22.9 %, but upturn in the imports of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages was caused by increased import of whiskey, which rose by EUR 3.7 million or 41.3 %.

In November 2025, as exports value of goods exceeded imports value of goods, foreign trade balance of Latvia was positive with 110 partner countries and foreign trade deficit in the trade with 57 partners.
The year-on-year share of the European Union countries in the total value of exports increased by 9.3 percentage points and in the total value of imports by 0.1 percentage point. The share of CIS countries reduced by 1.7 percentage points in exports and by 1.4 percentage points in imports.

Year-on-year comparison indicates a 33.3 % reduction in the exports to Russia, which was valued at EUR 59.1 million. The decline was mainly driven by the drop in export of prepared foodstuffs, which fell by 24.1 % or EUR 11.3 million. Imports from Russia fell by 81.1 % and was valued at EUR 4.4 million. Reduced supply of goods from Russia was caused by reduced import of mineral products, which went down by EUR 12.6 million. Compared to a month ago, imports from Russia increased by 13.9 % or EUR 0.5 million, it was affected by the rise of EUR 1.3 million in imports of prepared foodstuffs.
Exports to Ukraine fell by 70 % and was valued at EUR 8.1 million. The decline was primarily because of the reduction in export of prepared foodstuffs (down by 70.6 % or EUR 4.9 million). Imports from Ukraine fell by 31.6 % and was valued at EUR 16.9 million. The main cause of this decline was import of the chemical and allied industries, which fell by EUR 5.2 million or 63.8 %.
Exports to Belarus higher by 66.5 % and comprised EUR 9.9 million. The rise was mostly affected by upturn in exports of prepared foodstuffs by EUR 2.3 million. Imports from Belarus reduced by 75.8 % and was valued at EUR 2.3 million. Decrease in imports from Belarus was mostly affected by the drop in import of products of animal or vegetable fats and oils by EUR 3.3 million.

Methodological information:
Starting with the data on 2024, Latvian exports include businesses exporting goods from Latvia to third countries through other EU countries where they have filled in export customs declarations for the export of goods to third countries. In November 2025 the value of these transactions comprised EUR 3.6 million or 0.2 % of total exports.
