Out-of-family care, guardianship and foster families

State Inspectorate for Protection of Children’s Rights (SIPCR) is providing indicator “number of children in long-term social care and rehabilitation institutions” and Ministry of Welfare (MW) – indicator “number of children in social care centres”. SIPCR acquires the data from the decisions of the Orphan's and Custody Courts on placement of children in long-term social care and rehabilitation institutions, and MW – from the reports submitted by social care centres.

Usually the indicator estimated by the MW is higher than one produced by the SIPCR, as child may be placed in a social care centre also without an Orphan's and Custody Court decision (e.g., based on the application submitted by parents).
