Results of the 2000 Population and Housing Census in Latvia

This Population census data collection brings together final summary data of the 2000 Population and Housing Census in Latvia on the population size and composition by sex and age, ethnic nationalities, citizenship, language skills and use, educational level, main sources of livelihood, families, fertility, as so as data characterising dwellings.

The greater part of the data is given broken down by city, district, county and by pagasts (the smallest rural administrative territorial units). The most important data are given in comparisons with the data from previous Censuses. This publication contains also colour graphs and maps.

In some cases, due to specifics of electronic data processing technologies and rounding adjustments, slight discrepancies may occur between totals and sums of components.

The data are published in compliance with the administrative-territorial division of Latvia on the date of population census, i.e. as of 31.03.2000.
