Centres of population and geometric medians (experimental statistics)
Layer avg – centres of population. The mean coordinates of the places of usual residence in the respective territory.
Layer median – geometric medians, calculated with the PostGIS function ST_GeometricMedian from the usual residence coordinates in the respective territory.
Since 2019, calculations for densely populated areas also consider job coordinates in the previous year. Data on densely populated areas are not available for at least the last two years.
Coordinates might be located outside of the territory.
Field descriptions:
year – Population and Housing Census data on 31 March 2000 and 1 March 2011, at the beginning of a year since 2016;
level – level in the territorial breakdown (0 – state, 1 – statistical region (NUTS 3), 3 – administrative territory (LAU 2), 4 – territorial unit, 5 – neighbourhood, 7 – densely populated area);
code – territory code.
