Actual unemployment rate shows little change in November
Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) estimate shows that actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 6.9 % in November 2025. It increased by 0.1 percentage points month-on-month and by 0.1 percentage points year-on-year.
Unemployment rate for women did not change, staying at 5.7 %, and for men it increased by 0.1 percentage points, up to 8.1 %.
In November, there were 66.3 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia, which is 0.6 thousand more month-on-month and 2.9 thousand more year-on-year. The number of unemployed men grew by 0.5 thousand month-on-month, reaching 38.6 thousand, and the number of unemployed women rose by 0.2 thousand, reaching 27.8 thousand.
The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (SEA) was 4.8 %. It increased by 0.1 percentage points month-on-month and reduced by 0.3 percentage points year-on-year.
SEA calculates registered unemployment rate using the data on the registered unemployed persons available to the agency and the data provided by the CSB on active population (employed and unemployed persons) of working age. Actual unemployment rate is estimated indirectly, based on the quarterly Labour Force Survey results compiled by the CSB and on the SEA monthly data on registered unemployed persons.
