Actual unemployment rate in October almost unchanged
Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) estimate shows that actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 6.8 % in October 2025. It has reduced by only 0.03 percentage points over the month and increased by 0.1 percentage points over the year.
The unemployment rate for both women and men has remained unchanged at 5.7 % and 8.0 % respectively.
In October, there were 65.7 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia, which is 0.3 thousand fewer month-on-month and 3.3 thousand more year-on-year.
The number of unemployed men has declined by 0.1 thousand month-on-month, reaching 38.1 thousand, and the number of unemployed women has reduced by 0.1 thousand, reaching 27.6 thousand.
The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (SEA) was 4.7 %. It has not changed month-on-month and reduced by 0.4 percentage points year-on-year.
SEA calculates registered unemployment rate using the data on the registered unemployed persons available to the agency and the data provided by the CSB on active population (employed and unemployed persons) of working age. Actual unemployment rate is estimated indirectly, based on the quarterly Labour Force Survey results compiled by the CSB and on the SEA monthly data on registered unemployed persons.
