Actual unemployment rate reduced by 0.1 percentage points in August
Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) estimate shows that actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 6.4 % in August 2025. It reduced by 0.1 percentage points month-on-month and by 0.3 percentage points
year-on-year.
Unemployment rate for women fell by 0.2 percentage points, reaching 6.0 %, and for men it declined by 0.1 percentage points to 6.8 %.
In August, there were 61.1 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia, which is 1.2 thousand fewer month-on-month and 2.5 thousand fewer year-on-year. Month-on-month, the number of unemployed men decreased by 0.4 thousand to 32.2 thousand, and the number of unemployed women reduced by 0.8 thousand to 28.9 thousand.
The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (SEA) was 4.9 %. It reduced by 0.1 percentage points month-on-month and by 0.4 percentage points year-on-year.
SEA calculates registered unemployment rate using the data on the registered unemployed persons available to the agency and the data provided by the CSB on active population (employed and unemployed persons) of working age. Actual unemployment rate is estimated indirectly, based on the quarterly Labour Force Survey results compiled by the CSB and on the SEA monthly data on registered unemployed persons.
