In July, actual unemployment fell by 0.2 percentage points year-on-year July 2025
Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) estimate shows that actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 6.5 % in July 2025. Month-on-month, it has not changed, and year-on-year, it has reduced by 0.2 percentage points.
The unemployment rate for both women and men remains stable at 6.2 % and 6.9 % respectively.
In July 2025, there were 62.3 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia, which is 0.2 thousand fewer
month-on-month and 1.4 thousand fewer year-on-year. Compared to June, the number of unemployed men has declined by 0.1 thousand, reaching 32.6 thousand, and the number of unemployed women has reduced by 0.1 thousand, reaching 29.7 thousand.
The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (SEA) was 5.0 %. It has stayed constant
month-on-month and reduced by 0.2 percentage points year-on-year.
SEA calculates registered unemployment rate using the data on the registered unemployed persons available to the agency and the data provided by the CSB on active population (employed and unemployed persons) of working age. Actual unemployment rate is estimated indirectly, based on the quarterly Labour Force Survey results compiled by the CSB and on the SEA monthly data on registered unemployed persons.
