Actual unemployment rate in June with no change
Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) estimate shows that actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 6.8 % in June 2025. Over the month and over the year it has not changed.
Unemployment rate for women increased by 0.1 percentage point, reaching 6.3 %, and for men decreased by 0.1 percentage point, down to 7.4 %.
In June, there were 64.6 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia, which is 0.1 thousand fewer than a month ago and 0.2 thousand more than a year ago. Over the month, the number of unemployed men declined by 0.5 thousand, reaching 35.0 thousand, and the number of unemployed women rose by 0.4 thousand, reaching 29.5 thousand.
The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (SEA) was 5.0%. It has gone up by 0.1 percentage point over the month and gone down by 0.1 percentage point over the year.
SEA calculates registered unemployment rate using the data on the registered unemployed persons available to the agency and the data provided by the CSB on active population (employed and unemployed persons) of working age. Actual unemployment rate is estimated indirectly, based on the quarterly Labour Force Survey results compiled by the CSB and on the SEA monthly data on registered unemployed persons.
