The number of vacant jobs comprised 19.7 thousand in Q2
Central Statistical Bureau data show that in Q2 2026 the number of vacant jobs in Latvia stood at 19.7 thousand. The private sector recorded 10.5 thousand vacant jobs and public sector 9.2 thousand. Out of all jobs available in the country (both occupied and vacant), 2.1 % positions were vacant, of which 3.1 % in the public sector and 1.7 % in private.
Compared with Q2 2025, the number of vacant jobs has reduced by 0.4 thousand or 1.8 %. The number of vacant jobs in private sector has decreased by 0.2 thousand or 2.2 %, while in public sector by 0.1 thousand or 1.4 %.
The number of occupied jobs in Latvia comprised 904.2 thousand in Q2 2026. Compared with Q2 2025, the number of occupied jobs has increased by 12.9 thousand or 1.4 %. Over the year, the number of occupied jobs in private sector has grown by 8.4 thousand or 1.4 %, while in public sector by 4.5 thousand or 1.5 %.

The highest share of job vacancies was recorded among technicians and associate professionals – 3.5 %, skilled agricultural, forestry and fishery workers – 2.6 %, as well as elementary occupations – 2.5 %.

Among sectors the highest share of job vacancies was registered in public administration – 6.2 %, mining and quarrying – 3.3 %, but in administrative and support service activities, as well as publishing, broadcasting, and content production and distribution activities – 2.8 %.

Regional breakdown of the data shows the largest share of vacant jobs in Riga region (2.6 % or 16.2 thousand) and the smallest in Latgale (0.9 % or 0.6 thousand). In Zemgale, 1.5 % of jobs were vacant (1.0 thousand positions), while in Vidzeme and Kurzeme job vacancy rate was the same – 1.1 %, which in absolute numbers accounted for 1.0 thousand job vacancies in Vidzeme and 0.9 thousand in Kurzeme.
