In Q2 2025, there were 20.1 thousand vacant jobs in Latvia

Central Statistical Bureau data show that in Q2 2025 Latvian labour market had 20.1 thousand job vacancies, of which 10.7 thousand jobs were vacant in private sector and 9.4 thousand in public. Out of all jobs available in the country (both occupied and vacant), 2.2 % positions were vacant, of which 3.2 % in public sector and 1.7 % in private.

Year-on-year, the number of vacant jobs reduced by 3.8 thousand or 15.9 %. In private sector it dropped by 2.1 thousand (16.3 %) and in public sector by 1.7 thousand (15.4 %).

The number of occupied posts totalled 891.4 thousand in Q2 2025. Year-on-year, the average number of occupied posts increased by 1.6 thousand or 0.2 %. In private sector it rose by 2.9 thousand (0.5 %), while in public it fell by 1.3 thousand (0.5 %).

In terms of major occupational groups, the largest share of job vacancies was recorded for technicians and associate professionals (4.0 %), followed by craft and related trades workers (2.7 %) and elementary occupations (2.3 %).

Occupations meet the Latvian Classification of Occupations (which is based on the International Standard Classification of Occupations).

When broken down by economic activity, the greatest proportion of job vacancies was recorded in public administration – 6.8 %. Mining and quarrying follows with 2.9 %, administrative and support service activities with 2.9 %, and manufacturing with 2.4 %.

Regional breakdown of the data shows the largest share of vacant jobs in Riga (3.0 % or 14.5 thousand) and the smallest in Latgale (1.0 % or 0.7 thousand). In Vidzeme region, 1.3 % of jobs were vacant (1.1 thousand positions), in Zemgale 1.3 % (0.9 thousand), and in Kurzeme 1.2 % (1.0 thousand).
