In October, monthly inflation was 0.4 %

The data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in October 2025, compared to September 2025, the average level of consumer prices increased by 0.4 %. The rise in prices of goods and services related to housing, mainly of heat energy, contributed the most to the price change. In turn, prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, articles for personal hygiene and beauty products, clothing and footwear went down.

In October 2025, compared to September 2025, upturn in prices of goods and services related to housing (0.3 percentage points), goods and services related to transport (0.2 percentage points), food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.1 percentage point), furnishings (0.1 percentage point), as well as downturn in prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (0.1 percentage point), miscellaneous goods and services group (0.1 percentage point), clothing and footwear (0.04 percentage points) contributed the most to the price level changes.

Over the month, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew by 0.5 %. Price rise for fresh vegetables (of 6.6 %) had the strongest upward influence on the average price level within the group. Mainly affected by the end of sales campaigns, prices of bread (1.1 %), cheese and curd (1.4 %), bakery products (1.4 %), milk (1.3 %), ice cream (2.4 %) went up. Upturn was also recorded in prices of fresh or chilled fish (10.7 %), coffee (1.1 %), as well as fresh fruit (0.7 %). In turn, due to the discounts, prices of vegetable oil (6.6 %), pasta products (3.2 %), chocolate (1.4 %) fell. Prices of pork (1.6 %), olive oil (4.4 %) and potatoes (2.8 %) also went down.

The average level of alcoholic beverage and tobacco product prices reduced by 1.6 %. Mainly due to discounts on spirits and wine, prices of alcoholic beverages went down by 2.3 %, while prices of beer went up. Prices of tobacco products decreased on average by 0.2 %.

Prices within clothing and footwear group on average fell by 0.8 %. Prices of footwear dropped by 4.7 %, but of garments rose by 0.2 %.

Average price level of goods and services related to housing rose by 1.6 %. The most significant price rise within the group was registered for heat energy (4.4 %). Prices of electricity (1.5 %), solid fuels (2.6 %) and refuse collection (0.5 %) also went up. In turn, maintenance charges in multi-occupied buildings became cheaper (0.6 %).

Within the furnishings group prices rose on average by 1.5 %. Affected by the end of sales campaigns, prices of household cleaning and maintenance products (2.4 %), household furniture (2.2 %) and bed linen (5.7 %) went up.

Prices of goods and services related to transport increased by 1.4 %, which was mainly determined by the rise in prices of passenger transport by air. Prices of fuels for transport went up by 0.8 %, of which prices of diesel by 0.8 %, of petrol by 1.1 %, but prices of auto gas went down by 0.4 %. Upturn was also recorded in prices of maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, passenger transport by road.

Within the miscellaneous goods and services group prices decreased by 1.2 %. Prices of articles for personal hygiene and beauty products went down, which was mainly affected by the discounts. In turn, upturns were recorded in prices of jewellery, which was mainly affected by the end of sales.

Among other commodity groups, the most notable rise was registered in prices in medical specialist practice, of fiction books, catering services. In turn, prices of hotel services, pharmaceutical products reduced.

In October, annual inflation was 4.3 %

Compared to October 2024, in October 2025 the average level of consumer prices* increased by 4.3 %. The average level of consumer prices was mainly influenced by the rise in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.5 percentage points), mainly of coffee, poultry, eggs, chocolate, bakery products, dried, salted or smoked meat, butter and milk. Also, rise in prices of goods and services related to housing (1.1 percentage points), goods and services related to transport (0.3 percentage points) and health care (0.3 percentage points) contributed significantly to the price level changes.

Over the year, prices within the group of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 5.6 %. Price rise for coffee (of 35.3 %) had the strongest upward influence on the average price level within the group. Prices increased for poultry (18.3 %), eggs (21.0 %), chocolate (18.2 %), bakery products (5.8 %), dried, salted or smoked meat (3.2 %), butter (11.3 %), milk (5.6 %). Upturn was also recorded in prices of milk products (4.1 %), beef (28.3 %), vegetable oil (11.6 %), fresh fruit (2.3 %), cheese and curd (1.8 %), fruit and vegetable juices (6.1 %), ice cream (5.7 %), yoghurt (4.7 %). Decline, in turn, was registered in prices of fresh vegetables (7.1 %), olive oil (11.3 %), sugar (6.9 %), fresh or chilled fish (5.8 %), flours and other cereals (2.5 %).

The average level of alcoholic beverage and tobacco product prices rose by 2.4 %. Over the year average increase of 9.4 % was observed in prices of tobacco products. Mainly due to a decrease in prices of spirits and beer, prices of alcoholic beverages went down by 1.2 %. 

Average price level of goods and services related to housing rose by 6.2 %. Over the year, the most significant rise in the prices was for electricity (+12.2 %). Maintenance charges in multi-occupied buildings (7.5 %), natural gas (10.9 %), heat energy (1.8 %), services for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling (12.4 %), rentals for housing (6.7 %), water supply (6.6 %), sewage collection (8.8 %) and refuse collection (5.1 %) became more expensive. In turn, solid fuels became cheaper (3.8 %).

The average level of health care prices grew by 4.0 %. Over the year, prices in medical specialist practice, dental services, services of medical analysis laboratories and x-ray centres, pharmaceutical products went up. 

Prices of goods and services related to transport increased by 2.6 %, which was mainly determined by the rise in prices of passenger transport by air (12.8 %) and fuels for transport (1.7 %). Prices of auto gas went up by 12.9 %, of diesel by 1.4 %, of petrol by 0.1 %. Over the year, prices of other services in respect of personal transport equipment, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment increased. In turn, second-hand motor cars became cheaper.

The average level of restaurant and hotel service prices increased by 5.4 %. Upturn was observed in prices of catering services, of which prices of restaurant and café services rose by 4.5 %, of canteen services by 6.1 % and of fast food services by 7.7 %. Prices increased for hotel services (5.9 %).

Within the miscellaneous goods and services group, the average level of prices went up by 4.5 %. Prices of articles for personal hygiene and beauty products, retirement home fee for elderly persons, jewellery and hairdressing salons and personal grooming establishment services also increased. Prices of motor vehicle insurance went down.

The most significant upturns among other commodity groups were recorded in prices of telecommunication services, garments, television subscription fee, pre-primary education, higher education and recreational and sporting services. In turn, prices of flowers decreased.

Compared to 2015, in October 2025 consumer prices were 52.3 % higher. Prices of goods increased by 50.2 % and prices of services by 56.4 %.

In October 2025 average consumer price changes in last 12 months, compared to the previous 12 months (annual average inflation) was 3.6 %.

Information on consumer price changes in November 2025 will be published on 8 December.

* The annual inflation reflects consumer price changes, comparing the average price level in the comparison month with the average price level in the corresponding month of the previous year.

 

Methodological information:

 

The consumer price survey is a sample survey with targeted sample at all levels. It is conducted each month from 4th to 20th date, distributing the price collection evenly over the survey period. In 2025, the CPI sample includes 544 goods and services, the prices of which are recorded regularly. Approximately 2 000 trade and services outlets are surveyed. In total, about 24.5 thousand prices are observed each month.
