Over the year, the average level of consumer prices rose by 3.8 %

The latest data of the Central Statistical Bureau show that in June 2025, compared to June 2024, the average level of consumer prices* increased by 3.8 %. The average level of consumer prices was mainly influenced by the rise in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, mainly of coffee, poultry, chocolate, eggs, milk products and butter. Drop in prices of goods and services related to transport, mainly of fuels for transport, had a downward impact.

Compared to June 2024, in June 2025 the average level of consumer prices was mainly influenced by the rise in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.7 percentage points), goods and services related to housing (0.6 percentage points), alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (0.5 percentage points), goods and services related to recreation and culture (0.3 percentage points), health care (0.3 percentage points), as well as drop in prices of goods and services related to transport (0.2 percentage points).

Over the year, prices within the group of food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 6.3 %. Price rise for coffee (of 32.1 %) had the strongest upward influence on the average price level within the group. Prices of poultry (19.0 %), chocolate (32.3 %), eggs (20.4 %), milk products (9.3 %) and butter (21.0 %) also went up. Fresh fruit (7.0 %), bakery products (5.5 %), cheese and curd (4.6 %), dried, salted or smoked meat (2.3 %), vegetable oil (14.0 %), milk (4.4 %), beef (22.0 %), yoghurt (6.8 %) fruit and vegetable juices (8.1 %), ice cream (8.2 %) became more expensive. Decline, in turn, was registered in prices of potatoes (15.0 %), fresh vegetables (of 4.8 %), sugar (19.9 %), flours and other cereals (3.1 %), fresh or chilled fish (5.2 %).

The average level of alcoholic beverage and tobacco product prices rose by 6.5 %. Over the year average increase of 10.6 % was observed in prices of tobacco products. As prices of spirits, beer and wine went up, alcoholic beverages became more expensive (4.4 %) as well.

Average price level of goods and services related to housing rose by 3.3 %. Over the year, the most significant rise in the prices was for electricity (6.8 %). Maintenance charges in multi-occupied buildings (8.0 %), natural gas (10.9 %), services for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling (11.6 %), refuse collection (11.0 %), rentals for housing (5.8 %), sewage collection (3.3 %), and water supply (2.2 %) became more expensive as well. In turn, heat energy (3.7 %) and solid fuels (2.3 %) became cheaper.

The average level of health care prices grew by 3.9 %. Over the year, prices in medical specialist practice, dental services, services of medical analysis laboratories and x-ray centres went up.

Prices of goods and services related to transport reduced by 1.3 %, which was affected by the fall in prices of fuels for transport by 3.7 %. Prices of diesel went down by 5.4 %, of petrol – by 6.1 %, while of auto gas – went up by 27.8 %. Prices of second-hand motor cars, spare parts for personal transport equipment went down. Increase was observed in prices of other services in respect of personal transport equipment, maintenance and repair of personal transport equipment, tyres, passenger transport by train.

Prices of goods and services related to recreation and culture rose by 4.6 %, as prices of television subscription fee, recreational and sporting services, newspapers and magazines, package holidays, flowers and museum attendance fee increased. Prices of pet food went down.

The average level of restaurant and hotel service prices increased by 4.7 %. Upturn was observed in prices of catering services, of which prices of restaurant and café services rose by 3.7 %, of canteen services by 6.3 % and of fast food services by 4.9 %. Over the year, prices of hotel services also went up by 6.7 %.

Within the miscellaneous goods and services group, prices increased by 4.0 %, which was mainly affected by the rise in prices of articles for personal hygiene and beauty products and more expensive retirement home fee for elderly persons. Hairdressing salons and personal grooming establishment services, personal identification document issuance fee and child care services were more expensive as well. Drop in prices was registered for motor vehicle insurance.

Among other commodity groups, the most notable increase was registered in prices of telecommunication services, garments, pre-primary education, household cleaning and maintenance products. The average level of mobile telephone equipment prices reduced.

Over the month, the average level of consumer prices rose by 0.1 %

Compared to May 2025, in June 2025 the average level of consumer prices increased by 0.1 %. Rise in prices of goods and services related to transport (0.2 percentage points), goods and services related to recreation and culture (0.1 percentage point), restaurant and hotel services (0.1 percentage point), as well as drop in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.1 percentage point), clothing and footwear (0.1 percentage point), goods and services related to housing (0.1 percentage point) contributed the most to the price level changes.

Over the month, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages declined by 0.5 %. Price drop of fresh vegetables (of 6.4 %) had the strongest downward influence on the average price level within the group. Due to the discounts, prices of bread fell by 2.0 %, of milk products by 2.2 %, of butter by 3.3 %, of soft drinks by 4.3 %, of cheese and curd by 0.6 %, of ice cream by 1.8 %, of milk by 0.9 %. Prices of fresh fruit (1.2 %) went down. In turn, more expensive were pork (2.1 %) and poultry (1.4 %). As the promotions ended, bakery products (1.1 %), chocolate (1.9 %), fresh or chilled fish (4.4 %), fruit and vegetable juices (2.3 %) became more expensive. Prices went up also for coffee (0.7 %) and potatoes (3.0 %).

Prices within clothing and footwear group fell by 1.0 %. Over the month, average level of footwear prices dropped by 3.5 % and prices of garments by 0.3 %.

Average price level of goods and services related to housing fell by 0.3 %. The most significant price drop within the group was registered for electricity (1.3 %). Heat energy (0.7 %), as well as solid fuels (1.4 %) became cheaper. In turn, services for the maintenance and repairs of the dwelling (2.7 %), as well as rentals for housing (1.7 %) became more expensive.

Prices of goods and services related to transport increased by 1.9 %, which was mainly affected by the rise in prices of fuels for transport by 2.5 %, as prices of diesel went up by 2.8 %, of petrol by 2.5 %, but of auto gas reduced by 0.3 %. Prices of passenger transport by air, as well as passenger transport by road went up.

Prices of goods and services related to recreation and culture rose by 1.0 %, as prices of package holidays increased. The average level of fiction book prices went up by 3.4 %. Sales campaigns led to the drop in prices of pet food.

The average level of restaurant and hotel service prices went up by 1.5 %. During the month the most significant price rise was registered for hotel services (6.6 %). Prices of restaurant and café services (0.6 %), fast food services (1.6 %) and canteen services (0.8 %) also went up.

Among other commodity groups, the most notable rise was registered in prices of telecommunication services, dental services. In turn, prices of wine, spirits, mobile telephone equipment, household furniture went down.

Compared to 2015, in June 2025 consumer prices were 51.6 % higher. Prices of goods increased by 49.9 % and prices of services by 54.4 %.

In June 2025 average consumer price changes in last 12 months, compared to the previous 12 months (annual average inflation) was 2.7 %.

Information on consumer price changes in July 2025 will be published on 8 August.

*The annual inflation reflects consumer price changes, comparing the average price level in the comparison month with the average price level in the corresponding month of the previous year.

 

Methodological information:

 

The consumer price survey is a sample survey with targeted sample at all levels. It is conducted each month from 4th to 20th date, distributing the price collection evenly over the survey period. In 2025, the CPI sample includes 544 goods and services, the prices of which are recorded regularly. Approximately 2 000 trade and services outlets are surveyed. In total, about 24.5 thousand prices are observed each month.
