Arrivals at tourist accommodations up by 8.9 % in April

According to the Central Statistical Bureau, in April 2025 arrivals at Latvian tourist accommodation establishments totalled 191.9 thousand, which is 8.9 % more than in April 2024. Resident and non-resident visitors spent 342.1 thousand nights at the establishments – an increase of 12 % compared to the year before.

During the first four months of this year, tourist establishments accommodated 652.6 thousand Latvian visitors, which is 9 % more than during the same period of 2024.

The number non-resident arrivals at tourist accommodation establishments made up 115.8 thousand in April 2025 (60.3 % of all arrivals), which is 9.5 % more than in April 2024. Non-resident visitors spent 215.2 thousand nights at the establishments (up by 15.3 % year-over-year), and the average duration of stay was 1.9 nights1 (1.8 nights in April 2024).

The greatest number of non-resident travellers came from Lithuania (15.8 thousand), followed by Estonia (14.2 thousand), Germany (9.9 thousand), Finland (9.5 thousand), the United Kingdom (7.5 thousand), Poland (5.9 thousand), Sweden (5.1 thousand), Norway (4.1 thousand), Spain (4 thousand), Ukraine (4 thousand), and the United States (3.5 thousand).

Most non-resident visitors were accommodated in Riga (79.1 %), Jūrmala (6.4 %), Mārupe municipality (4.2 %), and Liepāja (1.9 %).

The number of resident arrivals registered at tourist accommodation establishments in April 2025 totalled 76.1 thousand, which is a year-over-year increase of 8.1 %. Resident visitors spent 126.9 thousand nights at the establishments (6.9 % more), and the average duration of resident stay was 1.7 nights (same figure as a year ago).

Most resident travellers were accommodated in Riga (33.5 %), followed by Jūrmala (11.1 %), Liepāja (8.1 %), Daugavpils (3.9 %), Cēsis municipality (3.7 %), Kuldīga municipality (3.2 %), as well as Sigulda and Valmiera municipalities (2.7 % in each).

The net occupancy rate of bedrooms in hotels and similar accommodation was 41.2 % in Latvia and 53.3 % in Riga ­– a year-over-year increase of 2.8 percentage points and 4.2 percentage points respectively.
