Output of dairy products for sale gone up by 9.6 % in 2025

Central Statistical Bureau provisional data show that in 2025 output of dairy products for sale1 increased by 14.4 thousand tonnes (9.6 %) compared with the year earlier.

Compared with 2024, increased output was recorded in the production of all dairy products: output of butter increased by 15.7 %, of acidified milk by 13.8 %, of cheese by 12.9 %, of drinking milk by 5.2 %, and of cream by 0.5 %. 

Compared with 2023, output of cheese rose by 13.3 %, of butter by 12.1 %, of acidified milk (yogurt, kefir, curdled milk, etc.) by 9.4 %, of cream by 0.5 %, and of drinking milk by 0.3 %.

Average purchase price of raw milk rose by 17.4 %

In 2025, milk procurement and processing companies collected 839.5 thousand tonnes of raw milk, 5.8 thousand tonnes (0.7 %) more than in 2024. 

The average purchase price of raw milk reached 477.03 euro per tonne, representing an increase of 70.77 euro per tonne (17.4 %) compared with 2024 and of 121.98 euro per tonne (34.4 %) compared with 2023.

The highest milk price was recorded in February, when it stood at 490.15 euro per tonne.
