H1 2025 saw output of dairy products for sale rise by 3.5 %

Central Statistical Bureau provisional data show that in the first six months of this year (H1 2025) output of dairy products from milk processing companies1 increased by 2.6 thousand tonnes or 3.5 % compared with H1 2024.

Increased output was recorded in the production of butter (up by 14.4 %) as well as cheese, including cheese used for processed cheese, aged and fresh cheese, such as acid-set cheese, cottage cheese, curd cheese snacks, and curd paste (up by 13.6 %). Compared with H1 2023, output of butter increased by 6.4 % and cheese output rose by 11.6 %.

Reduced output was recorded for sour milk (yogurt, kefir, curdled milk, etc.) and cream, which fell by 4.9 % and 3.0 % compared with H1 2024 respectively, with output of drinking milk unchanged. Compared with H1 2023, output of sour milk decreased by 3.9 %, of cream by 4.1 %. of drinking milk by 3.8 %.

Average purchase price of raw milk rose by 23.6 %

In H1 2025, milk procurement and processing companies collected 416.1 thousand tonnes of raw milk, which is an increase of 0.7 thousand tonnes or 0.2 % compared with H1 2024.

The average purchase price of raw milk was 484.96 euro per tonne, representing an increase of 92.66 euro per tonne (23.6 %) compared to H1 2024 and of 128.06 euro per tonne (35.9 %) compared to H1 2023. The highest price was recorded in February, when it stood at 490.19 euro per tonne.
