Output of dairy products went up by 6.1 % in 2024

Central Statistical Bureau provisional data show that in 2024, compared to 2023, output of dairy products for sale¹ increased by 9.3 thousand tonnes (6.1 %).

Compared to 2023, milk processing companies produced increased output of cream (up by 15.0 %), acidified milk (yoghurt, kefir, curdled milk, etc.) (4.8 %), cheese (incl. cheese used for processed cheese, aged and fresh cheese (acid-set cheese, cottage cheese, curd cheese snacks, and curd paste)) (5.0 %), drinking milk (3.7 %), and butter (1.6 %).

Compared to 2022, output of acidified milk rose by 33.9 %, of drinking milk by 32.1 %, of butter by 26.0 %, of cheese by 17.2 %, and of cream by 9.9 %. However, compared to 2021 output of drinking milk and cream fell by 4.0 % and 1.9 %, respectively.

Collected volume of raw milk gone up by 0.6 %

In 2024, milk procurement and processing companies collected 833.7 thousand tonnes of raw milk, which is 5.2 thousand tonnes (0.6 %) more than in 2023.

The average purchase price of raw milk was 406.27 EUR/t, and it was 51.22 EUR/t (14.4 %) higher than in 2023. However, the price has reduced by 64.91 EUR/t (13.8 %) compared to 2022 and increased by 88.26 EUR/t (27.8 %) compared to 2021.
