Data description
Afforestation on non-agricultural land ensures rational land use, reduction of environmental pollution, diversification of rural landscapes and expansion of recreational opportunities.
Data provide information on afforested areas and plantation forest areas (ha) in all properties, state properties and other properties by regions and by (dominant) tree species used in afforestation.

Length of comparable time series
Due to the implementation of the administrative-territorial reform in 2020, data from 2021 onwards are not comparable with previous periods. Therefore, the data where a break in the time series occurred are stored in two tables - pre-reform and post-reform.

Reports on afforestation submitted by forest owners and lawful possessors.
Data collection
Section 29, Paragraph two of the Law on Forests provides that, a forest owner or lawful possessor have an obligation to, by 1 February each year, inform the State Forest Service of the forestry activity, including reforestation, implemented in the previous calendar year.
Reports on reforestation are submitted by forest owners and lawful possessors. Data are registered in the state information system - the State Forest Register.
The State Forest Service within one month after receipt of the report on reforestation or maintenance of the reforested stand in accordance with the Cabinet Regulation No. 384 "Regulations Regarding Forest Inventory and Circulation of Information of the State Forest Register" of 21 June 2016 shall verify the compliance of the information specified in the report with the criteria and requirements referred to in these regulations and shall take a decision by which the forest stand is recognized as reforested or maintained.
Data compilation
The collected data on afforested areas and plantation forest areas are compiled and selected in the state information system - the State Forest Registers.
