Data description
The purpose of compiling the balance sheet of groundwater resources exploited is to assess the qualitative and quantitative status of groundwater in groundwater deposits.
An annual assessment of the current situation in the deposits is necessary to ensure the sustainable use of groundwater and to reasonably accept new and extend existing exploitation of groundwater resources, as well as to issue and extend the term of groundwater deposit passports.
The balance sheet includes information on existing resources in groundwater deposits and their changes, groundwater abstraction intensity, security or variability in quality and quantity of resources.

7. Statistical processing (data source etc.)
Source data
In compiling annual balance sheet the following information is used:
- annual data on the amount of water used from LEGMA's form “No. 2-Water. Review on the use of water resources”.
- information on acceptance of new stocks and changes in groundwater deposits from the reports of the LEGMA's Commission for acceptance of the stocks of mineral resources;
- monitoring results submitted by users of groundwater deposits (chemical testing reports and data on water level measurements).
Data collection
Users of water report the amount of water consumed electronically by filling in the official statistics report form “No. 2-Water. Review on the use of water resources”.
Users of water who prepare drinking water and supply it to consumers shall monitor the groundwater used for the extraction of drinking water.
Data compilation
In order to compile the balance, the following works are performed: the results of groundwater monitoring are summarized and analysed, the compliance of physicochemical parameters of groundwater freshwater with drinking water quality requirements is assessed and the current situation in groundwater monitoring is identified.
