Eurostat (statistical office of the European Union) is responsible for publishing high-quality Europe-wide statistics and indicators that enable comparisons between countries and regions. Statistics is available in the Eurostat database, in table Surgical procedures.

For obstetric surgery and ectopic pregnancy data - State Statistical Report Report of hospital work
For data on caesarean sections and perineotomy, episiotomy, as well as live births data that are used in the calculations - Medical Birth register. The Register contains information on newborns and their birth conditions.
Data collection
The Medical Birth register information system records data on all newborns born in medical treatment institutions in Latvia, as well as out-of-hospital births (including planned home births).
The register contains data on the mother, previous pregnancies, childbirth, the current pregnancy and childbirth, and the newborn health status. Please note that the information in the Register is provided by the medical facility after discharge of the newborn from the maternity unit/ward.

Data are broken down by statistical region based on the location of the healthcare institution (ATVK code).
