Data description
To meet data user needs for an additional household income measure that is not influenced by very high and very low income and better reflects typical income levels at national level and in more detailed breakdowns, the CSB has introduced an experimental indicator – median household income at municipality level.
The median household income is estimated by summing the income of all household members available in the State Revenue Service data. The number of private households used in the calculation is estimated from the CSB population estimate, with persons living in institutional dwellings excluded.
Experimental statistics are produced using new data sources and methods, with an aim of expanding the scope or level of detail of official statistics based on user needs. These methods are not yet fully established, internationally harmonized, or officially approved, and may be revised to improve data quality.
CSB publishes experimental statistics to gather user feedback, evaluate the analytical potential of the data, and assess how well the statistics reflect actual conditions and meet user needs. This provides users with new and additional data that may support decision-making.
