Data on activities of heat plants and CHP plants are compiled with an aim to find out the number of heat plants and CHP plants, volume of electricity and heat produced, capacity as well as to estimate heat balance in statistical regions.

Heat plants producing heat for sale. Heat plants using fuel only for heating and technological needs are not surveyed. Consumption of fuel in these heat plants is shown in the energy balance – "final consumption".

Until 2012 data of the table ENB090. Number of heat plants, capacity and produced heat data on heat produced in autoproducer heat plants differ from the information in energy balance, as transformation sector of the energy balance (in compliance with the international methodology) covers data on heat produced for sale in autoproducer heat plants.

Until 2012 in table ENB120 Number of combined heat and power plants (chp), electrical capacity, produced electricity and heat energy data on autoproducer CHP plants include all produced heat. Data differ from energy balance, because in transformation sector of energy balance only heat produced for sale is included.

Data are acquired with the help of full-scope survey from several data sources:

• CSB annual statistical report form 1-energy "Report on production of heat and electricity";
• Annex to the CSB annual statistical report form "Annex to report 1-energy";
• CSB statistical report form 2-EK "Report on purchase and use of energy resources".
