Monthly data are surveyed and compiled in compliance with the methodology "Monthly questionnaire Solid Fuel" and "Energy Statistics Manual" of the Eurostat. Annual data are collected and compiled in accordance with Eurostat methodology "Coal Annual Questionnaire" and "Energy Statistics Manual".

Data on production, imports, exports and consumption of solid fuels are acquired from:

• Monthly data
  • INTRASTAT monthly survey of enterprises engaged in trade with EU Member States;
  • Customs declarations on trade with third countries;
  • Monthly survey 2-solid fuels "Report on imports, production and realization of solid fuels".
    
• Annual data
  • INTRASTAT monthly survey of enterprises engaged in trade with EU Member States;
  • Customs declarations on trade with third countries;
  • Monthly survey 2-solid fuels "Report on imports, production and realization of solid fuels";
  • Annual survey 2-EK "Report on purchase and use of energy resources";
  • Annual survey 1-energy "Report on production of heat and electricity".

Monthly data are acquired with the help of INTRASTAT sample survey – full-scope survey on trade with the third countries. Monthly reports "2-solid fuels" are collected from all enterprises producing peat and companies engaged in import of hard coal and imports of coal in which annually reaches at least 500 tons.

For the annual data annually approximately 6 thousand respondents are surveyed. Consumption of fuel in sectors of the national economy is found out by surveying State and local government enterprises of all sectors regardless the number of persons employed and by surveying other enterprises employing 80 and more persons. Data on enterprises and organisations employing less than 80 persons are acquired with the help of random sampling and afterwards obtained results are extrapolated.

The consumption is calculated: production + imports - exports + stock changes.
