Data description
Data on tourism companies are used to identify the number of tourism companies and to analyse detailed information on the served Latvian and foreign guests in travel agencies and by tour operators in Latvia; indicators on the number of incoming and outgoing tourists in breakdown by country and length of trip.

Statistical population
Report on the activity of tourism merchants (No. 1-tourism) is submitted by merchants whose economic activity corresponds to Statistical classification of economic activities (NACE Rev.2) class 79.12 Tour operator services, as well as merchants providing both tour operator and travel agency services and are registered in the Consumer Rights Protection Centre (CRPC) database of tourism service providers.

Data are obtained carrying out complete merchant survey of tour operator services providers. Data are compiled from statistics report form 1-tourism Report on the activity of tourism merchants. Merchants are selected from Consumer Rights Protection Centre (CRPC) database of tourism service providers.
Data collection
Data on activities of tourism companies (tour operators) is collected from respondents in full survey once a year according to form 1-Tourism Report on the activity of tourism merchants. Submission term of the form is February 1. Data are mainly submitted in the form of an e-report in the Electronic Data Collection System (EDV), as well as by e-mail or telephone.
The planned number of statistical units to be surveyed is around 120.
Data compilation
Respondents submit data for a year and they are collected and published once a year.
The main indicators to be published is the number of tourism companies who provided the services of tour operator, the number of people served who purchased package holidays (traveller arrivals and departures), their breakdown by countries.
