7. Statistical processing (data source etc.)
Source data
Data on the type, volume and value of goods produced and sold are obtained with the help of enterprise survey conducted based on a threshold sample. The annual official statistics questionnaire 1- Industry was changed notably in 2022 (wen collecting information on 2021) – the title thereof was changed to Types of Industrial Products and Services (until then, the questionnaire 1- Industry was titled Report on Production and Sale of Industrial Goods, Industrial Services Provided).
Changes in the questionnaire were made in compliance with the provisions of the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 (Table 26 Country-level business statistics on industrial production included in the Annex 1, Part B) stating that in respect to the products sold and produced a sub-contracted operation should be provided for each PRODCOM list code (List of PRODucts of the European COMmunity)
Data collection
Annual data are collected from economically active enterprises whose main or secondary economic activity is classified under Sections B or C, or Class 38.32 of Section E of NACE Rev. 2, and which employ 10 or more persons in industrial production. From the 2025 data onwards, the activity classification is based on Sections B or C, or Class 38.21 of Section E of NACE Rev. 2.1.
To ensure that each NACE Rev. 2 class (NACE Rev. 2.1 from the 2025 data onwards) covers at least 90% of the national industrial output during the reference year, enterprises employing fewer than 10 persons are also surveyed in selected industries.
