7. Statistical processing (data source etc.)
Source data
The Latvian Fisheries Integrated Control and Information System (LZIKIS) maintained by the Ministry of Agriculture integrates data from the Latvian Ship Register. All information required for the annual report of the fishing fleet is obtained from LZIKIS.
Data collection
Obligation of the Ministry of Agriculture is to monitor and maintain the capacity list of the Latvian fishing fleet so that the gross tonnage and main engine power indicators of the vessels included in it are included in the total capacity indicators of the Latvian fishing fleet in accordance with Regulation No 1380/2013 on the Common Fisheries Policy and these vessels are entered in the Common Fishing Fleet Register of the European Community.
Data compilation
The Ministry of Agriculture maintains Latvian Fisheries Integrated Control and Information System, where data from the Latvian Ship Register is integrated.
In accordance with Commission Regulation (EC) No 26/2004 EU Member States are required to submit to the Commission (DG MARE) entries from national registers of fishing vessels. Eurostat collects data from the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs on the EU fishing fleet register on the number, length, tonnage and engine power of fishing vessels and fishing boats.

3. Every year, in accordance with the data submission deadlines specified in regulatory enactments, an analytical report is prepared in the specified form and content of the fleet report and sent to the Ministry of Agriculture for evaluation, which further submits the evaluated report to the European Commission.
