- Data from the Criminal Procedure Information System on registered crimes (criminal offenses) in the criminal proceedings commenced from 1 January 2011.
Data collection
Data are compiled using data warehousing solutions, an analytical tool maintained by the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior.
Data compilation
The number of crimes (criminal offences) recorded in the country during the year include crimes qualified in accordance with the Article of the Criminal Law and crimes qualified according to belonging to a group object (qualified only by the Criminal Law Division) for which information has been entered in the Criminal Procedure Information System and in the Punishment Register from 1 January to 31 December of the relevant year.
Crimes for which an investigation is terminated on the basis of Section 377(1) or (2) of the Criminal Procedure Law are not included in the statistical report.
- If crimes (criminal offences) registered in criminal proceedings are qualified for the different parts of one Section of the Criminal Law, they are recorded once in the statistical reports.
- If criminal proceedings have different degrees of severity according to the qualification of the articles of the Criminal Law, crimes (criminal offences) initiated under the relevant article of the Criminal Law are recorded in the statistical reports according to the most serious qualifying crime (criminal offence).
The number of persons accused include information on natural persons being held criminally liable during the reporting period and a decision on it has been entered in the Criminal Procedure Information System. One accused person may have committed multiple crimes but is listed once.
The number of persons accused do not include information regarding persons against whom criminal proceedings have been terminated in general or the relevant crime (criminal offence) has been terminated on the basis of the Section 377(1) or (2) of the Criminal Procedure Law.
The number of criminal offenses committed by persons accused include information on crimes committed by natural persons being held criminally liable during the reporting period and a decision on it has been entered in the Criminal Procedure Information System. Both women and men can participate in one crime, so the total number of crimes and the amount of number by sex do not match.
The number of victims include information on the natural persons in respect of whom a decision regarding recognition as a victim or a corpse inspection protocol has been entered in the Criminal Procedure Information System during the reporting period, as well as a description of the deceased person in the Criminal Procedure Information System.
Persons for whom a decision regarding the recognition of a person as a victim has been revoked, as well as a decision regarding the termination of the criminal proceedings or the relevant criminal offence in which the person has suffered, on the basis of the Section 377(1) or Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Procedure Law has been entered are not included in the report.
The number of criminal offenses with victims include data on crimes in which natural persons have suffered. A woman and a man may suffer a single offence, so the total number of crimes and the amount of number by sex do not match.
