The data on the number of employees provide information on the number of employees in Latvia as a whole, as well as by sector (public, private and general government), by region, by State city, by municipality, by town and by rural territory in Latvia, in which the employee's actual place of work is located.
The data are used to estimate average employment in Latvia and its territories.

Data on the number of employed by actual place of work are obtained through a sample survey and administrative data sources.
The data sources are the Complex annual reports on activities of merchants and institutions (1-year and 2-year), the Report on local kind of activity units of merchants and institutions (1-DVV) produced by the CSB as well as administrative data sources.
The administrative data sources are the notifications submitted to the State Revenue Service on amounts paid to natural persons, the reports on mandatory state social insurance contributions on employees' labour income, the personal income tax and the state fee on business risk in the reference month, the micro-enterprise tax declarations and the declarations on income from economic activity.

Data compilation
Data on the number of employed by actual place of work are obtained by conducting a sample survey and using administrative data sources.
Information on statistical units that are included in the general population of economically active units but which do not submit questionnaires (1-DVV, 1-year or 2-year) is calculated using administrative data sources. A weight of "1" applies to all units.
