Income of more than a fifth of households has reduced during a year

Provisional data of the survey on Income and Living Conditions 2021 carried out by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that during the last year income of more than one fifth (21 %) of Latvian households has reduced, of 66 % has not changed, but of 13  has increased.

In turn, in the following 12 months majority of households (78 %) expect that their total income will not change, 15 % expect that their income will increase and only 7 % expect reduction of income.   

Out those households that reported on the decrease of income during the previous year, almost a third (30 %) expects that income will increase, more than a half (52 %) expects that income will remain unchanged, but 18 % assume that their income will reduce even more.

Until June 30 the CSB is carrying out survey on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC). Within the framework of the survey, information is also acquired on the impact of Covid-19 crisis on mental health of population, their income, opportunities to work and study remotely. Provisional data are acquired from answers of 4 thousand households, which is about two thirds of the expected answers. The CSB asks population having received a letter or message from the CSB to be responsive and participate in the survey. The CSB would like to thank all respondents who have already taken part in the survey to assess impact of Covid-19 on the well-being of Latvian population.
