In the second quarter, the number of job vacancies has increased by 20.1 %

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that at the end of the 2nd quarter of 2021, there were 25.3 thousand job vacancies and, compared to the 2nd quarter of 2020, this number has increased by 4.2 thousand. or 20.1%. There were 16.9 thousand job vacancies in the private sector, whereas 8.4 thousand in the public sector. During the year, the number of job vacancies in the private sector increased by 4.0 thousand or 31.0 %, while in the public sector - by 0.2 thousand or 3.0 %.

Compared to the previous quarter, the number of job vacancies increased by 17.7 % or 3.8 thousand. In the private sector the number increased by 19.7 % or 2.8 thousand, while in the public sector - by 13.9 % or 1.0 thousand.

The number of occupied posts in the 2nd quarter of this year, compared to the 2nd quarter of 2020, increased to 940.2 thousand or by 6.6 %. Starting from the 1st quarter of 2021, the information of the State Revenue Service is used for the calculation of the number of occupied posts, but until the end of 2020 the source of data on occupied posts was the CSB sample survey.

Of all jobs, the highest share of job vacancies was in the basic group of skilled agricultural, forestry and fishery workers - 4.9 %, in the basic group of skilled workers and craftsmen - 4.6 %, as well as in the basic group of specialists - 3.9 %

The highest share of job vacancies was in public administration - 5.5 %, in accommodation and food service activities - 4.0 %, in manufacturing - 3.9 %, in real estate - 3.3 %, as well as in construction - 3.2 %.

In various regions, in the 2nd quarter of this year, the highest share of job vacancies was in the Riga - 3.0 % or 15.9 thousand, while the lowest - in Latgale: 1.9 % or 1.4 thousand.

Of the three Baltic States, the highest share of job vacancies at the end of the 2nd quarter of 2021 was in Latvia - 2.6 %. In Lithuania it was 1.9 %, but in Estonia the lowest - 1.7 %.

At the end of the 2nd quarter of 2021, compared to the end of the 2nd quarter of 2020, the number of job vacancies increased the most in Lithuania - by 43.1 %, but in Estonia and Latvia - by 30.3 % and 20.1 %, respectively.
