In November number of visitors at tourist accommodation establishments larger than a year ago
Data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in November 2021 the number of foreign and resident visitors comprised 66 thousand, which is 31.1 % more than in November 2020, but 63.6 % less than before the pandemic in November 2019. As compared to November of the previous year, the number of nights spent by visitors comprised 127.5 thousand nights, which is 4.6 % more.
In the 11 months of this year there were 1.2 million foreign and resident visitors in tourist accommodation establishments, which is 14.5 % less than in 11 months last year and 54.4 % less than during this time period in 2019.
In November 2021 tourist accommodation establishments hosted 39.8 thousand Latvian residents, which is 6.7 % more than in November 2020. The number of nights spent by them comprised 77.5 thousand, and it fell by 4.6 %, compared to November last year.
Latvian visitors stayed mostly in Riga (34.7 %), Jūrmala (14.2 %), Liepāja (7.5 %), Cēsis municipality (3.8 %), Daugavpils (3.7 %), Kuldīga municipality (3.3 %) and Sigulda municipality (2.9 %).
In November 2021 the number of foreign visitors out of the total number of visitors in accommodation establishments comprised 39.6 % or 26.2 thousand, which is 2 times more than in November 2020, however this is still 78.1 % less than in November 2019 before the pandemic. The number of nights spent by foreign visitors, compared to November last year, has grown by 22.9 % and comprised 50 thousand.
The majority of foreign visitors came from Germany (2.7 thousand), Lithuania (2.6 thousand), Estonia (2.5 thousand), Russia (2 thousand), the United Kingdom (1.9 thousand), Poland (1.4 thousand) and Ukraine (1.1 thousand).
Most foreign visitors stayed in Riga (87.7 %), Jūrmala (2.1 %) and Liepāja (2 %).
